Sportswear Boutiques
Whether you want full-on kit for the gyn or your next Pilates class or just something comfortable to lounge around in you've come to the perfect place, offering everything from sports bras and trainers to the most comfortable pair of track-pants you'll ever put on.
The temptations here are enormous, as these are perfect places to shop for stylish, comfortable clothes in a chic range of colours, not just for sporty separates, but for daywear collections and weekend separates as well.
Here are two of our favourite places for sportwear and casual daywear.....
JD Sports - Sports Clothing Accessories and Footwear
As one of the largest UK sports retailers there is, as you’d expect, a huge range of sports clothing and accessories here from all the major ranges, including Nike, Puma, Reebok, Lacoste and Addidas plus brands such as Animal, Mackenzie, Bench and Converse. There's a lot to browse round, from your next pair of trainers to sporty daywear and denim collections.
White Stuff - Casual Clothing and Sportwear for Everyone
This young, urban clothing company sells casual sporty lightweight gear in the summer months for guys and girls, plus trendy skiwear in the winter (hence the name). There are colour options for just about all the clothes, from the Flawless T to the Java Jive pant and you can see straight away what's available in stock or what you'll have to wait for. This collection is fun and well priced and definitely worth having a look at.
Sheactive
Here's a great site just for women, and covering sports such as fitness, cycling, rock climbing, skiing and swimming. They don't offer any products that are adaptations of mens sportswear and just go for the best that's been specifically designed for the girls. There's a very good selection, whether you're a dedicated sportswoman or just want the look. It's well worth a browse. Brands include Roxy, Adidas, Montane, Lifeventure, Helly Hanson and Salomon.
Joules - Sporty daywear for Men, Women and Children
Joules is a clothing website with a difference; beautifully photographed and well laid out, there are some excellent fun sporty separates for just about everyone. Originally aimed at the riding fraternity, this store now has attractive, wearable daywear whatever you're planning to do, with a pretty boutique collection and a specific range for equestrians as well.
Sweaty Betty - Unique, Beautifully Designed Sportwear
Whatever your sport, from swimming, working out in the gym, pilates, yoga, dance, tennis or just staying in, you're bound to find something wearable and stylish here. The aim here is to offer you an excellent, chic collection, perfect for both sport and lounging around in afterwards. There's a small maternity range here as well.
Route One - Young, Contemporary, Street Sportswear
The list of brands here is huge, and includes Fenchurch, Vans, Converse, Addict and Chocolate. This is the place to visit for casual, sporty clothing. And what started as one of the oldest street stores in the country, specialising in BMX, Skateboard, Inline Skate and ATB equipment, now offers all of that plus an excellent range of hoodies, t-shirts, denim, footwear, accessories and much more.
Abercrombie - Cult US Brand Clothes and Accessories
This is where the young chic American denim brigade shop for their jeans, jackets and tees and now you can buy direct from their UK based website with all prices shown in pounds and duty included. The style is very ‘Casual Luxury’ and they even call it that. Take a look around if you can tear yourself away from the outstanding photographs of the most beautiful models (mostly men). Sizing is SMALL particularly for fitted items so if in any doubt go up a size. Of course you can now shop in their Savile Row, London, store but if you can’t get there………
Adidas - Contemporary Trainers and Sportswear Collections
At Adidas’s contemporarily designed online store you can find all their footwear and clothing together in one place and much better than that, you can also read up on all the latest sports innovations from this famous brand. There's sports clothing and footwear for men, women and kids plus the Adidas by Stella McCartney line. Go there and be prepared to start training……soon
Crew Clothing - Casual, Sporty Clothing for Everyone
This is a really attractive and modern website with a constantly expanding range of casual clothing and accessories for men, women, boys and girls plus footwear and luggage. Although originally aimed at the sailing fraternity the collection has moved forward and you'll find things here to take you away for the weekend, out to lunch and beyond.
Jack Wills - Popular Young Branded Sportwear and Casualwear
If you're missing your Abercrombie/American Eagle fix this year you should take a look at this website, offering 'cool' and idiosyncratic sportwear including jeans, hoodys, fun, printed t-shirts, polo shirts and accessories for girls and guys. The website is beautifully designed and great fun to browse and if you have a teenage daughter, as I do, you’ll probably have seen a great deal of this clothing brand about.
Nike - Nike Brand Clothing, Footwear and Accessories
I love Nike but hate long flash intros so be warned, you’ll have to wait a bit to get to the products themselves. Go and make a cuppa or something while it’s loading. This is probably one of the most beautiful to look at and cleverly designs sports stores of all but boy, do I hate having to wait. All the clothing and footwear is here for everyone and you can customise your shoes as well. They deliver to the UK, EU and US.
Nucleus
This is a modern, well laid out site offering a very good range of 'surfwear, skatewear and streetwear'. Hoodys, t'shirts, trousers, shoes and some very good gift ideas from lots of brands including Quicksilver, Billabong, Redeye, O'Neill, Vans, Ezekial and The Art Company. There's a huge amount of product on offer here so allow yourself plenty of time to browse.
Orvis Clothing - Casualwear and Sportswear for Men, Women and Children
Originally a company specialising in fishing equipment, Orvis have now developed their brand to offer a full clothing and accessories range for men and women. You’ll find high quality classic outerwear here from Donegal tweed jackets to quilted, microfibre coats plus knitwear, shirts, polos, t-shirts and accessories, all in a wide choice of colours. There's hardwearing footwear here too plus the Barbour Collection and very good clothing for travel.
Puma - Puma Brand Clothing, Footwear and Accessories
You’ll find pretty well the full range at the Puma online store, and once you’ve hung about for a while for the flash intro to pass (grrr) you can order their unbelievably comfortable casual trainers (of which I am a huge fan), serious sports shoes and casual and sporting gear for both men and women. There are also sports bags, shades, belts and watches for real Puma addicts.
Shoe-Shop.com - Branded Trainers and Casual Footwear
Shoe-Shop.com carries a huge range of shoes from sports shoes of every description including Adidas, Reebok and Puma to Patrick Cox Wannabees and they'll ship to you anywhere in the world. This is a very easy site to navigate and the choice is almost overwhelming so make sure you've plenty of time before you plan to sit down and browse.
Sportswoman - Casall Sportwear, Fitness Equipment and Underwear
Don't visit this website unless you're feeling energetic (although if you're not it'll definitely push you in the right direction). Here you can see, beautifully photographed, the Casall range of sportswear plus Asquith London, Agoy, Miraclesuit Swimwear and Duca del Cosma footwear. As well as the clothing ranges there's fitness equipment and underwear.
Tommy Hilfiger - US Brand Modern Daywear, Sportswear and Accessories
There's an excellent selection of modern daywear and accessories available from the Tommy Hilfiger website, from cashmere/cotton cable knitwear, jeans and winter jackets and coats to bags and wallets, snow boots and shoes and chic skiwear. There's also a gift section and the option of gift boxing for all items offered.
Wellicious - Stylish Clothing for Pilates and Yoga
Wellbeing lifestyle brand offers chic and feminine clothes for Yoga and Pilates on one of the most attractive websites around, with a range which includes t-shirts, tops, pants, jackets and catsuits - wear them to class or out on the town, it's totally up to you. As well as the boutique you can browse their favourite spa retreats, learn how to make your own body scrubs (sugar-cream anyone?) and find other beautiful wellbeing accessories. For Yoga or Pilates addicts this website is a must.
